The merger has begun, so has the competition. Next week on “Grey’s Anatomy“, the residents of Seattle Grace and Mercy West vie for surgeries and their careers as day one of the hospital merger begins. Meanwhile, Arizona stands by an enraged Callie when her father, Mr. Torres, employs a priest to help convince her to date men. Izzie experiences the brunt of her new surgical competition. “Invasion” is set to air on Thursday, October 15.
The team from Mercy includes Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), Dr. Reed Adamson (Nora Zehetner), Dr. Charles Percy (Robert Baker) and Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew). According to the respective depicters, Jackson will have a spat with Cristina while Reed is involved in a best surgeries competition with Izzie, Alex and Cristina. In the preview for “Grey’s Anatomy” October 8 episode, a flash back to Meredith’s dark past is given. When Meredith and Lexie’s father, Thatcher, returns to the hospital with a failed liver, it’s up to Meredith to save his life because she is the one who has his blood.

Meanwhile, Izzie empathizes with a patient riddled with tumors, as Mark, annoyed with Cristina’s competitive zeal, tricks her into assisting on an unusual surgery. Jeff Perry returns to his role as Thatcher Grey in the episode called “Tainted Obligation“.
Meanwhile, the merger is still creating quite a stress for the staff of Seattle Grace Hospital. Recently it was confirmed that at least four staff from Mercy West Hospital are coming to work with them. The new characters are played by Robert Baker, Jesse Williams, Nora Zehetner and Sarah Drew.

After an emotional season premiere, the surgeons of Seattle Grace are beginning to settle into their lives post-George. That doesn’t mean things have settled down, however.
Below are some promotional photos for tonight’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, “I Always Feel Like Somebody’s Watchin’ Me.” Izzie has a wig and there’s baseball being played.
How will the doctors react to looming budget cuts? What type of trauma case is Owen handling? Does Cristina understand the statistical implications of the double switch?

Or perhaps because of George’s (TR Knight) death that Grey’s Anatomy
packed a wallop on its premiere last week. Despite being long advertised (and celebrated or rued, depending on which side you belong), the death of one of the original Seattle Grace interns was still anticipated and watched by a lot of people - 17.1 million in the first hour, and somehow dwindling by some 600,000 in the second.
While I think there might be Grey’s Anatomy
fans who purposely tuned in just for the first hour to probably see how they bury and say goodbye to George, overall, the number may be too small to account for people who thought the first hour sucked and therefore tuned out. I personally think the second hour was far better than the first. “Good mourning” - the first of the two-hour kick-off - was slow-cooking, perhaps too slow-cooking, and was much more subdued than what I expected they’d do with George’s funeral scene.
Did the Grey’s season 6 premiere disappoint? On one hand, the bar was set pretty high because of the amazing finale last season. On the other hand, it was not really as shabby as some critics point out.
I’m slightly on the fence on how I felt about the highlight (and probably only memorable part) of the funeral sequence - the very creepy busting into laughs. While I thought it was highly plausible because it’s true that we all demonstrate grief in unique ways, it was just downright bizarre - especially the way Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) laughed. But the bottom line was, it was unexpected, and that alone deserved credit.
On a final note, maybe it’s safe to say that Grey’s Anatomy is back, following the lull it experienced toward the end of last season before the finale (read: ghost sex). Is it a shame that it took a death of a character for it to get its groove back? That, I’m not sure. But I am glad it’s back - and it trumped CSI
by some 1.4 mil viewers. Awesome.
