It all comes down to sweet memory and its torture for Izzie in the episode called “In the Midnight Hour”. This would be the “Grey’s Anatomy” episode where Izzie’s deceased fiance, Denny Duquette played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, comes back haunting her.

Months after his death, Izzie was reminded of Denny in episode 5.07 when a patient was treated with similar disease that killed him. Izzie is having visions of him which was speculated as a symptom of Izzie’s brain tumor that she will suffer.

Meanwhile, the November 20 episode also sees Meredith, Cristina and Bailey coming to Lexie and Sadie’s rescue when a routine surgery goes horribly wrong. Seattle Grace Hospital will deal with a new personality in the November 13 episode of “Grey’s Anatomy“. One of Meredith’s oldest friends, Sadie, enrolls a job as an intern at the hospital but Mer’s friends are less than welcoming to her.

Lexie leads her fellow interns in secretive, unorthodox surgical training sessions, and a new surgeon, Virginia Dixon, brings rules and order to the OR. Dr. Hunt, meanwhile, continues to pester on the other doctors with his trauma room method, and causes further rift, especially with Sloan.

The episode is called “These Ties That Bind” and will air on November 13.

Sadie, played by Melissa George, is described as an Angelina Jolie-like character who is “naughty” and “mischievous”. Executive producer Betsy Beers told TV Guide that the arrival of Sadie ups the risk factor in Lexie’s underground procedures until there are “some serious ramifications for the hospital.”

With the controversy surrounding the show as of lately, it has been reported that the show is eliminating loose ends for gay story. Since Sadie was due to have a fling with Callie, rumors are circulating that there has been a change of script. An insider told E!’s Kristin Dos Santos, “She starts off flirting with Callie but it never goes anywhere.”

The past comes back to haunt Izzie in the new “Grey’s Anatomy“. The 5.07 episode of the show will see Izzie being tormented when a new patient has similar sickness to her late fiance, Denny Duquette who died on the operation table after a failed heart transplant, and the fact that she is in charge of the case, affects her emotional state.

Meanwhile, the Chief announces to the residents that a solo surgery will be awarded, and the news sends them into a competitive frenzy. Meanwhile Derek turns to Bailey for advice when he feels Cristina is interfering in his relationship with Meredith, and Erica discovers a shocking connection between one of her surgical residents and a longtime patient.

It was previously hinted by EW’s Michael Ausiello that Jeffrey Dean Morgan who portrays Denny will be back on the show for the November 6 episode. It wasn’t clear whether he will come back as mere flashbacks or in a new scene but it was said that Izzie suffers a brain tumor which makes her able to communicate with the dead, meaning if it’s true then he would have shot some new scenes.

Kevin McKidd falls back to “Grey’s Anatomy” as the mean but “hunky” doctor Owen Hunt. He will be featured on the episode called “Life During Wartime”, taking advances in his romantic relationship to Cristina.

Owen returns as the head of trauma, challenging both the attending doctor’s methods and the residents’ surgical abilities. He is graded as monster for not getting along with the doctors but one doctor catches his attention.

Meanwhile, to help Bailey become the best general surgeon at Seattle Grace, the Chief gives her new power, new responsibility, and the challenge of removing a young girl’s inoperable tumor.

Owen was first introduced to the show when he shared a passionate bedside kiss with Cristina in previous season. Speaking of his character’s nature McKidd said, “His methods are pretty controversial. It’s quite explosive what he does when he comes back.”

In the next “Grey’s Anatomy“, twelve doctors and interns will face one case at the same time. The patient, a 50-year-old wealthy businessman named Bruce Walling came to be treated, accompanied by his 23-year-old son PJ whom he has a strained relationship with.

Bailey heads up a team of surgeons performing a “domino procedure” in which each surgery hinges on the one preceding it. Called “There’s No ‘I’ in Team”, the episode also chronicles the medics’ life outside Seattle Grace Hospital with Lexie going to great lengths to have George notice her romantically, and Sloan counseling a desperate Callie on the ways of love. Derek gets sole credit for the brain tumor study he did with Meredith.

The episode 5.05 will air October 23.

Following the two hours premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy” season five, ABC have sneaked out glimpses into the next episode of the medical drama series and now the preview video has arrived. Giving an idea about what to expect, the snippet teases the chaos Seattle Grace Hospital and its residents experience when water comes rushing in.

Entitled “Here Comes the Flood”, episode 5.03 is said to see George retaking his residency exam, while the Chief tries to implement new teaching policies. On another story, Izzie and Alex are going to find out that Derek tries to boot them out of Meredith’s house. The new episode will be broadcast on Thursday, October 9 at 9 P.M. on ABC.

Entering its fifth season, “Grey’s” kicked off the new season with “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, a two-hour long premiere on September 25. The series follows a group of Seattle Grace Hospital’s residents, attendings and interns in their professional and personal lives. Created by Shonda Rhimes, it stars Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, T. R. Knight, Patrick Dempsey and Chandra Wilson among others.

Grey’s Anatomy begins with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) standing in her house of candles that she made for McDreamy. She is ready to begin her fairytale life with Derek, her “happily ever after,” but she voiceovers that happily ever after doesn’t happen. We cut to her rushing to the hospital where Derek is dying on an operating table after being hit by a bus. She screams and cries, but suddenly, we find out that it was all just a dream. Real-life Meredith jumps up from a nap in the on-call room, as her voiceover curses the person who invented “happily ever after.” She rushes to a computer where Bailey, Derek, Hahn and the residents are all hovering. The national rankings for teaching hospitals is about to be released, and everyone is on edge to find out where Seattle Grace landed this year. Everyone is shocked and saddened to learn that they fell down to number 12 in the rankings, behind Cleveland Clinic of all places.

It is an unseasonably cold autumn in Seattle this year, and freak snow storm is causing havoc in the streets. There are car accidents all over the city, but unfortunately, Mercy West is now the only level one trauma center in Seattle, so Mercy West is getting all of their bloody trauma victims.

Hahn (Brooke Smith) spends the episode trying to improve her teaching skills, and avoiding all contact, eye or otherwise, with Callie (Sara Ramirez).

Meredith tells Cristina (Sandra Oh) about her Derek dying dream, which is a dream that she’s been having many times since the season finale. She’s going to ask Derek to move in with her, but Cristina, distracted with the fact that she is now the top resident at a second-rate hospital, tells Meredith to stop talking about Derek. Lexie (Chyler Leigh) overhears the conversation and figures out that Meredith slept with George. Lexie is hugely disappointed because she is in love with George. (Of course, George being George, he’s blissfully unaware if Lexie’s feelings, even as she makes eyes at him while helping him study for his second try at the intern exam.)

Nurse Rose is still a scrub nurse on Derek’s service, but she is acting like a completely unprofessional bitch, snarking at him and making passive-aggressive sarcastic remarks to everyone in the room about him. Mark (Eric Dane) tells Derek (Patrick Dempsey) that he needs to break up with her professionally. Later on when Derek approaches Rose about her behavior, she says that she’s been acting this way because “I’m carrying your child. [pause] Ha! Gotcha!” Derek is not amused and asks her to transfer to a different specialty. She refuses.

Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and the residents wait outside in the freezing cold for bloody trauma victims. Alex (Justin Chambers) wraps Izzie (Katherine Heigl) up in a blanket. I wonder what happened to these two over the summer hiatus? Finally, a limo comes careening into view. Inside the limo are three fancily dressed women with some injuries, but all of that pales in comparison to the limo driver, who is almost inside out, his wounds are so great. The three women are best friends and were on their way to a ball when the limo crashed and the driver flew through the windshield. Two of the women, Sarabeth and Anna, seemed to have escaped with only superficial wounds, but the third named Betty keeps forgetting where she is and what happened, pointing to a neurological injury. Izzie finds out later during Betty’s CT scan that her memory resets every 30 seconds, and Izzie has to keep telling her what happened. Alex tells Betty that she’s in a space ship. It turns out that Betty has a subdural hematoma! Which explains the memory loss. Woohoo! The first 30 minutes of Grey’s Anatomy season 5, and we already have our first subdural hematoma!

Meredith blurts out to Derek, “Do you want to move in with me?” He says yes and looks at her amusedly as she babbles on in her Meredith-esque way. They stop talking when they see that Billy the limo driver died.

Bailey eavesdrops on the emergency dispatch phone line that three men in another limo were in a collision as well. She and Cristina run over to Sarabeth and Anna and tell them that the men may be their husbands. Way to be unethical, Bailey! The men are about to be taken to Mercy West, but Bailey convinces the women to insist that they be brought to Seattle Grace. Richard (James Pickens Jr.), by the way, is completely down with the patient-stealing.

Major Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) brings one of the men in with the paramedic. Major McHottie, as I shall dub him, has just returned from Iraq and was driving when the limo hit his car. He triaged the men at the scene, and even gave one of them a pen tracheotomy, which Cristina finds extremely hot.

We find out that Anna is having an affair with Sarabeth’s husband Michael. She confides in Meredith about it, of course, planting the seed of doubt in Meredith that living a happily ever after with the love of your life might not be possible after all. Meredith then whines to Izzie and Cristina about whether people who stay together for 40 years end up dead inside and cheating on their spouses with their best friends’ husbands. Cristina, rolling her eyes, tells her to please talk about anything but Derek because she doesn’t think that MerDer will make it. Izzie, on the other hand, says that you just need to marry a good guy. A good guy, like Alex. And see, Alex is a good guy because he finds out that Michael’s insurance expires that night at midnight, so he promises Sarabeth that he’ll do what he can to make sure they won’t have to pay out of pocket for his multiple surgeries. He spends time trying to decipher the insurance codes, leading Meredith to make a comment about Alex’s softer side. Alex bristles when he thinks that Izzie has been blabbing to everyone about how he cried in last season’s Grey’s Anatomy season finale. He gets mad and storms off.

Derek and Callie look’s at Anna’s husband, Phil, who has sustained severe injuries to his legs. His prognosis doesn’t look promising, but Major McHottie jumps in and tells him about a special procedure that can save his legs. Derek doesn’t appreciate that Major McHottie jump in and give his patient false hope. Not to mention that Major McHottie is sporting his own leg injury. He has a big gash on his thigh, which he brushes over as just a flesh wound. Richard orders Cristina to take care of him.

Lexie asks Mark to be nicer to George because he’s been treating George like a moron, but then Mark figures out Lexie’s undying love for George and begins torturing her about it.

Cristina has scrubbed in on Betty’s husband Vincent’s abdominal surgery with Richard and Hahn, but she is struggling to perform a stitch and nearly kills Vincent. Hahn scolds her for spending so much time in cardiothoracic that she has compromised her knowledge of general surgery.

Either way, a shocking sneak preview from the Season Five premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” has surfaced.

Many of our readers have been expressed the opinion - in response to this week’s thought-provoking Grey’s Anatomy spoilers - that the scene first hinted at in the now-infamous promo takes place in a dream, or in Meredith’s imagination.

But this eliminates any doubt that it does in fact take place. And it’s not pleasant.

Season four is mostly about returning everyone to their status quo and examining how each character has a tendency to inflict their baggage and ideologies on those around them without taking the time to view the other perspective. Conflict and pain often stem from selfish and unrealistic expectations, while newcomers help existing characters learn new things about themselves and re-examine old wounds. This exploration helps to deepen the complexity of the existing Grey’s crew and helps to make Meredith’s character in particular far more identifiable and affable.

With Addison and Preston out of the hospital, this season opens with many characters in the middle of personal struggles. Having been left at the altar at the end of season three, Christina (Sandra Oh) finds herself in a bit of a funk but deals with it in the best way she knows how, which is to fight for and perform, complex surgeries. Another cliffhanger at the end of the third season involved George (T.K. Knight) cheating on his new wife Callie (Sara Ramirez) with his long time best friend Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and questioning the nature of his marriage.

Season four is light on explorations of Izzie, outside of her brief passion with George and her eventually re-connection with Alex (Justin Chambers), but George is forced to pull himself out of the hole he has dug after failing the residency exam. Realizing how destructive his behavior has been to himself and everyone around him, George gets his act together throughout season four, moving into a more positive space. On the other hand, Alex becomes involved in a destructive relationship with Ava (Elizabeth Reaser) that mirrors some of the pain he dealt with in his youth.

The Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) storyline in season four has the pair “broken up” but routinely copulating under the guise of breakup sex. The arrival of Meredith’s half-sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh) as a new surgical intern, forces Meredith to examine much of the pain in her past that has ultimately caused the abandonment issues in her present, which in turn are affecting her relationship with Derek. Meredith is initially harsh and distancing with her half-sister, having no interest in any part of her absent father, but eventually warms up to her optimistic and determined sibling.

Having been cheated on by her husband, Callie finds herself lost and abandoned but strikes up a friendship with the new surly cardio-thoracic specialist Erica (Brooke Smith), who helps Callie gain some much-needed confidence. Meanwhile, Sloan (Eric Dane) strikes up flirtations with both women, hoping desperately to get them in a threesome scenario.

There is a great deal of emotional truth on display throughout the fourth season of Grey’s Anatomy. While many of these characters are entirely self-centered in their actions, they often become aware of their own follies and communicate the truth with inhuman timing and gravity. While the outcomes of Miranda’s (Chandra Wilson) marriage and the relationship between George and Izzie are entirely believable and upsetting, the actually manner in which these evolutions are communicated (with appropriately mirroring surgeries) exist only in the world of soap opera. This, however, is perfectly fine, since fans of the show are entirely familiar with the contrived format and embrace it regardless.

The 5-disc DVD box set includes liner-notes that outline major events from previous seasons, in addition to a variety of featurettes. Inevitably, there are extended episodes, which will surprise no one given the propensity for show creator Shonda Rhimes and her writing team to really put as much into each episode as possible. Also included are commentaries on three episodes with actors Chyler Leigh, Lauren Stamile and Sandra Oh, as well as producers Karin Gleason, Rob Corn and director Julie Anne Robinson. The commentaries are pretty dry and clinical with discussions of how certain scenes were originally written and how talented certain people are.

The featurette “New Docs on the Block”, gives some background on the casting process for Chyler Leigh and Lauren Stamile, as well as some sarcastic discussions with Brooke Smith about her character. “On the Set with Patrick and Eric” explores the pseudo-homoerotic relationship between the pair throughout season four with the obvious tongue-in-cheek humor. “Good Medicine: Favorite Scenes” is essentially a bouillabaisse of random moments throughout season four that come mostly from an interview with producer Betsy Beers. Also included are outtakes and unaired scenes.
